The prototypical TAG Heuer Monaco McQueen watch

The watch is indeed the prototypical McQueen watch, reference 1133 from late 1971. This one simply happens to have a grey dial instead of a blue one, so its full reference is a 1133G, compared to the McQueen 1133B. What you first notice about the Monaco is how big the case is. It is really quite large, especially for vintage standards, and sits high on the wrist thanks both to the modular chronograph movement and sandwiched, 30m waterproof case.

The pushers and crown are actually cut out of the top part of the case, which acts as a bit of a protector against accidental activation or shock. The pushers are ridged, just like they are on Autavias of the time.  The dial of the Monaco is extremely flat, though still very interesting. Of course it is square shaped, with a circular minute track that includes lume plots at each hour marker. There are also applied metallic markers at each hour, with larger markers at the corners (11, 2 ,7, and 4 o'clock). 

The pusher actuation on this caliber 11 movement is a little soft, though very smooth. In fact, I would say the this watch feels better than most similarly priced chronographs of the day – certainly those using a Val. 7750, but not nearly as smooth as TAG Heuer's Carrera with 1887 caliber.
