This exceptional Big Pilot's watch combines a perpetual calendar with a flying minute tourbillon, two highly complex functions. The flying minute tourbillon at 12 o'clock comprises 82 parts and weighs only 0.635 grams. The tourbillon is one of the most complex mechanical devices in haute horlogerie. The watch's balance wheel and escapement fork are housed in a small frame, rotating once per minute around their own axis. This continuous rotation reduces the effects of gravity on the oscillation system, thus improving the watch's accuracy. IWC's master watchmaker, Kurt Klaus, developed and designed the one-button adjustable perpetual calendar module in the 1980s, displaying calendar information on three sub-dials. The sub-dial at 3 o'clock displays the date and power reserve, while the sub-dial at 6 o'clock displays the month and moon phase. Notably, the moon phase display is not the conventional one, but rather a creative depiction of the Little Prince standing on a planet. Thanks to the watch's double-center gear reduction gear system, the moon phase display deviates by only one day every 577.5 years. The sub-dial at 9 o'clock displays the day of the week. Furthermore, the watch features a four-digit year display and automatically recognizes months with varying lengths and leap years, ensuring an automatic leap day is added every four years. All calendar functions operate synchronously and can be adjusted uniformly via the crown.

IWC's in-house caliber 51950 is a highly complex movement comprised of 447 components. The solid gold rotor of the automatic winding system is designed in the image of the Little Prince guarding the planet B612, which is covered with giant baobab trees. The exquisite details are fully visible through the sapphire crystal case back, recreating the classic story from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's novel https://www.firstwatchclone.co.
